White Wings Across America

In 2011, members of the National White Dove Release Society, (NWDRS), decided to simultaneously release their doves on September 11th to mark the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in New York, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania.

011 dove memorial reseasesWe were quickly joined by other organizations, pigeon racers, and fanciers from the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand to commemorate the lives lost on that tragic day of ten years before.

White Wings became so large that different time zones interfered with performing a simultaneous white dove release. Notwithstanding, this event laid claim to being the largest white dove release in the history of the world with over three and a half thousand white doves released to commemorate the fallen, both in the 9/11 attack, and our military losses in Afghanistan.
